Another Break In !!!

There was another break in at Block B yesterday!!!

I think this is getting absurb and the residents need to do something drastic before someone gets hurt. The normal suggestions and actions are not enough, we need come up with something different since nothing works.

These may sound silly but can I suggest that, we have the police involved here (full investigation)? Or can we form a Rukun Tetangga? Is there anything we can do than re-enforcing the doors?

Residents, please come up with some ideas or suggestions so that we can have back our normal lives. Pass your suggestions to Mr. LT Yeoh or Mr. KS Gan immediately. They are having a meeting tonight (5th May 2009, 8:30pm) at the pool side. We really need your inputs and solve this issue together.

  1. Leow, We had a meeting tonight. While it is good effort to call all residents to update on the break-ins, it is not enough just to ask residents to have stronger, bigger locks. The Committee and Management Agent must come out with solid actions to arrest the situation since we are told it is highly proable an inside job. Changing guards without tightening control is useless.

  2. Hi,

    Thanks for your comments.

Arresting these issues requires the cooperation from all residents, MC and GE Tan as well. As you can observe, some of our residents in PG does not even adhere to the basic security rules. Such as entering PG without valid pass (vehicle). When denied entry, some wanted to fight with guards or the MC who created this rule to safe guard us, the residents. Some residents are breaking the security rules and has become a "normal" thing. This is sad.

  4. Hi,

    Thank you for your comment.

Good question. This evening, there was a long discussion between MC, GE Tan and security company. I hope something positive was reached. At the mean time, protect and secure your condo the best you can.

  5. I know the CCTV plan is approved. Just wondering if we can do more like what Villa Emas (and others too) is doing. By having access control to each building. Each resident can only access the building they live in thru some security card given to the unit owners. I know this will make life even harder for people living in Pearl Garden but it might worth it for the safety of the community. But this might not be fair to the people living at ground floor....

  6. Hi,

I really do not know how it works, but we can consult MC or Lee Kam Heng on this matter. And as for GE Tan, I am sure they have experience in our other sites when comes to CCTV. It would be great idea to hook up with the management of Villa Emas to understand how they do it. Some residents of PG complained about inconveniences because of extra precautions, but imagine how inconvenient and terrifying it is to have your apartment ransacked by a burglar. Some people just never learn and very selfish.

By the way, can I have your email address so that we can communicate further? Thanks very much. All these information is very helpful and more residents should chip in to assist.

  7. Transferred from email.

    Jimmy,

Below is my response to the input.

    Dear Anonymous,

We appreciate your input and hope you can identify yourself by your block (A,B or C) in future instead of just anonymous. Yes there is plan to block up both side entrances of each block leaving only main entrance (only 1 side) for tighter access control. Resident Card will be issued for the access to our unit and to all facilities. There is no plan to have card access in the lift at this moment as we feel it is better to control all entrances instead of just 1st floor and above. Management will send out resident's survey form soon to gather information for residents card issuance and other control.

Thanks again for your input and we welcome all the constructive input and advice.

    Regards,
    KS Gan
    MC Chairman

  8. Hello Jimmy & all,
I know GE Tan is the managing agent for Gold Coast but not sure of villa emas. I shall cetainlly ask them about it when I see them, latest by coming MC meeting this Sat. GE Tan's rep is in the CCTV committee and I shall highlight to committee chairman Lee K H or Jimmy you can please forward the comments to Lee. LT

  9. HI LT,

That's good information that we can use. Seeking help from others does not mean that we are weak, but smart in a way. Gold Coast probably have a better security than PG and we need to know how GE Tan have done it. Maybe we should get the GE Tan guy from Gold Coast to be transferred here..LOL.

Ok, I will also invite Lee Kam Heng to comment on this observation.

  10. Hello All,
I've just checked and Gold Coast also uses SASA Security, same as PG. We should be able to talk to the Security Supervisor to find out more on their security procedure. LT

  11. LT,

Good job. If SASA has it, why go all the hassle to reinvent the wheel. Of course, those areas which are lacking must be added to beef up the security at PG.

Another point that I want to suggest is to get our own PG security force under the payroll of MC. Then you do not have security personnel changing all the time. Think about it.

  12. Happy to see good suggestions here. Keep them coming. However, i would like to remind everyone that if it is an inside job, securing the building alone will not be effective. The ultimate defense lies with individual unit owner, if the intended intruder is a co-occupant inside the same building. We need to figure out ways to make it harder for "these internal culprits" to perform their skilled jobs.... Lee Kam Heng

  13. Hi Lee,

I noticed the other day when I was making the Fogging video on the 12th May 09, I noticed several empty units in block A and there are some boxes and cardboards in one of the unit. I forgot which floor, but it is between 15th and 9th floor. The inside job could have used this empty units as hideouts. If the unit is empty, I would like to suggest that we lock the unit up. When the owners want to access to it, they can look for GE Tan or MC. The purpose of this exercise is to isolate those empty units as a precaution. It may sound far fetched, but at this point of time, we should not ignore it.

  15. Hi Chui,

Thanks for the email. Yeoh has investigated Villa Emas's security team and it is the same company as Pearl Garden right now. SASA security.

  16. Jimmy & Chui,

Villa Emas & Gold Coast are two diff condos. GE Tan & SASA are managing Gold Coast. I didn't check on Villa Emas. LT

  17. Hi LT,

    Ok, thank for the correction.

  18. Jimmy & Chui,

I have confirmed that GE Tan is managing Gold Coast and they are not for Villa Emas. Chui, you are referring to Villa Emas in your comments, right? LT

  19. Hi LT,
Yes, i referred to Villa Emas but i was not sured who's the management though, just happened to have a friend stayed there and knew about the security system they have. BTW, just had a chat with a friend stayed in Regency Heights (Opposite Pearl Garden), they are applying the same secutiry system and it's managed by GE Tan also. Perhaps we can check with GE Tan.

  21. Hi Jimmy,

Lee Kam Heng's and your opinion is the most logical with regard to "if the possibility is an inside job". Probably info from the intelligence work by our cleaners or guards.

Is it a good idea to also get the unit owners who rent out to also register their tenants particulars with MC so that GE Tan and security companyis also aware of the status?

I know this will not stop the break-ins but at least we can narrow down to some extend assuming none of the unit owners is involve in this crime.
    just my 2 cents....

  22. Cat,

I think it is a brilliant idea. Last week, I saw a new tenant shifting in at Block C. It is not a busy body thing, but we really need to know who is shifting in and out. Precautions such as this is necessary to deter more break ins. Ok, sure some residents will say, "You bunch of busybodies, everything also wanna know!" But I think you will agree with me that prevention is better than cure...

Hey Cat, wanna be part of the CCTV committee? Lee Kam Heng needs help.

Thanks, would like to but not at the moment due to time constraint. Looks like KH Lee is doing a good job. :D
